KIRKINTILLOCH ROB ROY FC LOOK TO MOVE TO NEW COMMUNITY STADIUM
The application by Regency Homes to redevelop the site of Kirkintilloch Rob Roy Football Club on Glasgow Road, Kirkintilloch could prove to be a windfall for the Central League Junior football Club.
Regency Homes, the football club’s main sponsor, has applied to build 83 homes on the site of the pitch and car park that will include apartments, semi detached houses, bungalows and villas.
If the planning application is successful, it will allow the football club to build a multi million-pound stadium with modern community facilities nearby.
David Arthur, Regency Homes' development manager says: “As well as the application for the new homes, a planning application has been made to build a new stadium on Campsie Road. If approved, the new facility will include all weather football pitches that will be available for community use.
“The proposed standard of the new stadium will allow Kirkintilloch Rob Roy FC to apply to the SFA for Community Club and Academy status.”
Regency Homes marketing director Nicola Diamond adds: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring new homes to the area. This development is crucial in enabling the famous Junior Football Club to relocate to a modern stadium.”
